Holding your baby close creates a moment that is calm, steady, and uninterrupted. There is no need for activity or structure. The connection comes from proximity, touch, and presence.

In these moments, your baby settles into your arms, and your body naturally adjusts to support them. Your breathing slows, your movements soften, and the environment becomes quieter. This shared stillness creates a space where both you and your baby can pause.

This is one of the most direct ways connection forms in early motherhood.

In This Article

Closeness Creates Immediate Comfort

Your Body Becomes a Calm Environment

Connection Without Activity

Familiarity Builds Through Repetition

Holding Your Baby Supports Your Own Pause

A Shared Moment That Stays With You

Summary

Closeness Creates Immediate Comfort

When you hold your baby close, your presence provides a clear and familiar point of contact. Your baby experiences:

warmth

steady support

a consistent physical boundary

This closeness helps your baby settle more easily. The contact between your body and theirs creates a sense of continuity that is easy for them to recognise.

Your arms become a place where your baby can relax, supported by something constant and familiar.

Your Body Becomes a Calm Environment

Holding your baby is not only about physical support. Your body also provides a stable environment through:

your breathing rhythm

your heartbeat

your stillness

These elements create a natural sense of calm. Your baby is able to remain close to these steady patterns, which helps them settle into a quieter state.

As you hold your baby, your own pace often slows as well. This shared rhythm allows both of you to move into the same calm space.

Connection Without Activity

Connection does not require continuous interaction. It can exist in stillness.

When you hold your baby without distraction:

there is no need to stimulate or entertain

there is no expectation of response

the moment remains simple and contained

This form of connection develops through being present rather than doing more. It allows both you and your baby to experience a pause within the day.

Over time, these quiet moments contribute to a deeper sense of familiarity.

Familiarity Builds Through Repetition

Each time you hold your baby close, you reinforce a pattern they begin to recognise.

Your baby becomes familiar with:

how it feels to be in your arms

how you hold and support them

the calm that follows this closeness

These repeated experiences build consistency. Your baby begins to associate your presence with comfort and stability.

This familiarity supports their ability to settle more easily over time.

Holding Your Baby Supports Your Own Pause

These moments also create space for you.

When you hold your baby close:

your movements slow

your attention narrows to a single focus

the pace of the day becomes quieter

This allows you to rest within the moment, even while remaining present.

You are not stepping away from your baby. You are sharing the same pause together.

A Shared Moment That Stays With You

The connection formed while holding your baby is simple, but it carries meaning through repetition.

It becomes part of your daily rhythm:

moments of closeness

moments of stillness

moments where nothing else is required

These experiences build over time, shaping how both you and your baby experience being together.

Summary

Holding your baby close creates a quiet and steady connection built through touch, proximity, and presence. These moments provide comfort for your baby and create a calm, shared environment for both of you.

Through repeated closeness, your baby becomes familiar with your arms as a place of safety and stability. At the same time, these moments allow you to slow down and rest within the day.

This connection develops naturally, through simple, everyday moments of holding your baby close.

The post The Quiet Bond You Create When You Hold Your Baby first appeared on MamiMamita Magazine.

Your baby’s sleep creates natural pauses in your day. These moments may be short and unpredictable, but they offer something valuable: time to rest alongside your baby.

When your baby settles, the environment becomes quieter, slower, and more contained. This shift makes it easier for you to pause as well. Lying down, closing your eyes, or simply resting in the same space allows your body and mind to follow the same rhythm.

These shared moments of rest are part of early motherhood. They support both your recovery and your baby’s sense of calm.

In This Article

Shared Sleep Creates a Natural Rhythm

Rest Supports Your Recovery

Your Presence Supports Your Baby’s Calm

Resting Together Strengthens Connection

Making Use of the Moment

Consistency Builds Energy Over Time

Summary

Shared Sleep Creates a Natural Rhythm

Your baby’s sleep patterns shape the flow of your day. Periods of wakefulness are followed by periods of rest, often several times across the day.

When you align your own rest with your baby’s sleep:

your body adapts to a shared rhythm

rest becomes more accessible

the day feels more balanced

Instead of separating your time from your baby’s schedule, these moments allow you to move within the same cycle. Over time, this shared rhythm can make daily life feel more manageable and less fragmented.

Rest Supports Your Recovery

Early motherhood places physical and mental demands on you. Even with a full night’s sleep, the day includes constant attention, movement, and responsiveness.

Resting when your baby sleeps provides:

physical recovery through stillness

mental pause from continuous activity

reduced overall fatigue across the day

Short periods of rest can accumulate. Lying down for even a brief time allows your body to slow down and reset before the next period of activity.

This ongoing recovery supports your ability to stay present and engaged throughout the day.

Your Presence Supports Your Baby’s Calm

When you rest near your baby, your presence continues to shape their environment.

Even during sleep, your baby experiences:

familiar sounds

consistent proximity

a stable atmosphere

Being close while your baby sleeps can contribute to a sense of continuity between awake and resting moments. Your baby remains within a familiar setting, which supports calm and comfort.

This shared space reinforces the connection that is built during wakeful interaction.

Resting Together Strengthens Connection

Connection is not limited to active interaction. It also develops through shared states—such as resting in the same space.

When you lie down while your baby sleeps:

you remain physically close

you share the same pace

you create a quiet, uninterrupted moment together

These periods contribute to a sense of togetherness without requiring activity. Over time, this adds to the overall familiarity your baby associates with you.

Connection grows through both interaction and presence.

Making Use of the Moment

Your baby’s sleep naturally creates opportunities to pause. Taking these moments allows rest to become part of your daily rhythm.

This can look like:

lying down when your baby settles

closing your eyes, even for a short time

staying in a calm, quiet environment

These actions do not require preparation or structure. They fit within what is already happening.

Using these moments regularly allows rest to build gradually throughout the day.

Consistency Builds Energy Over Time

Each period of rest contributes to your overall energy. While a single nap may feel small, repeated moments create a cumulative effect.

Over time:

your energy levels become more stable

your ability to respond improves

daily routines feel more sustainable

This consistency supports both you and your baby. A more rested state allows for smoother transitions between sleep and wake periods.

Summary

Resting when your baby sleeps creates a shared rhythm that supports both of you. These moments provide physical recovery, mental pause, and a calm, familiar environment for your baby.

By using the natural pauses in your day, rest becomes part of your routine rather than something separate from it. Over time, these small periods of recovery build stability, energy, and connection.

The post The Benefits of Sleeping When Your Baby Sleeps first appeared on MamiMamita Magazine.

Your days with your baby are made up of repeated, familiar moments. Feeding, changing, holding, and settling happen throughout the day, often blending into a natural rhythm.

For your baby, these moments are clear and meaningful. Each interaction—your voice, your face, your touch—forms part of how they begin to understand the world around them.

Early motherhood is built through these continuous experiences. What may feel routine to you becomes the foundation your baby recognises, responds to, and grows within.

In This Article

Key Takeaways

Everyday Moments Build Strong Foundations

Your Presence Is What Your Baby Connects With

Eye Contact and Touch Create Connection

Simple Interaction Supports Development

Consistency Creates Lasting Impact

Summary

Key Takeaways

Repeated everyday moments build strong foundations for your baby

Your face, voice, touch, and presence are central to early connection

Eye contact and physical interaction create clear and meaningful engagement

Daily routines naturally support development through interaction

Consistency over time creates familiarity, stability, and connection

Everyday Moments Build Strong Foundations

Development grows through repetition. Each time you respond to your baby, speak to them, or hold them close, you reinforce a pattern they begin to recognise.

These everyday interactions:

create familiarity

establish rhythm

support early understanding

Over time, your baby becomes more comfortable within these patterns. Familiar voices, movements, and responses become expected and reassuring.

This steady repetition helps your baby feel secure in their environment and connected to you.

Your Presence Is What Your Baby Connects With

In the early months, your baby’s world is centred around what is close and consistent.

They connect most strongly with:

your facial expressions

the tone and rhythm of your voice

your physical touch

your presence nearby

These elements provide clear and recognisable signals. Each interaction strengthens your baby’s ability to focus, respond, and engage.

Your presence naturally provides everything needed for early connection. Through simple, repeated contact, your baby becomes familiar with you as their central point of reference.

Eye Contact and Touch Create Connection

Face-to-face interaction gives your baby a clear way to engage with you. When you position yourself close and meet their gaze, you create a focused moment of connection.

Eye contact allows your baby to:

observe your expressions

follow movement

begin recognising patterns

Touch supports this connection. Holding, supporting, and gently moving your baby provides continuous physical feedback.

Moments such as:

holding their hands while speaking

adjusting their position while staying close

responding to their movements with touch

help create a consistent and reassuring experience.

Together, eye contact and touch build familiarity. Over time, your baby recognises these patterns and responds with increasing awareness.

Simple Interaction Supports Development

Your daily interactions already include everything your baby needs for early development.

Through your presence, your baby experiences:

visual input through your face and movement

sound through your voice

physical reassurance through touch

These inputs happen naturally and often at the same time. Their consistency allows your baby to recognise and engage with them more easily.

Daily routines become meaningful through the way you interact within them. Each moment contributes to a growing sense of familiarity and connection.

Consistency Creates Lasting Impact

Every interaction, whether long or brief, contributes to a larger pattern your baby experiences.

Short moments such as:

a glance

a response to a sound

maintaining contact during routines

all add to this pattern.

Over time, this consistency builds a stable and recognisable environment. Your baby becomes familiar with your presence, your responses, and your way of interacting.

This steady continuity supports their ability to feel secure and engaged.

Summary

The connection between you and your baby is built through everyday moments that repeat naturally throughout the day. Your presence—through your voice, your face, and your touch—provides clear and consistent signals your baby recognises and responds to.

Simple interactions such as eye contact, holding, and responding during routines create familiarity and support early development. Over time, these repeated experiences form patterns that help your baby feel secure, engaged, and connected.

What you do each day already supports your baby’s growth. It is the consistency of these small moments that creates lasting impact.

The post The Small Moments That Matter Most for Your Baby first appeared on MamiMamita Magazine.

Although it was released in store earlier this month, you can now purchase it online for £89. The single-breasted design has already proved a massive hit on Instagram, due to not only the gorgeous wide lapels, the on-trend, oversize fit and super cosy wool texture – but also the fact that Vogue Williams, Holly and fashion blogger Erica Davies have all rocked it. Now if you don’t know who Erica Davies is – let us enlighten you. Erica is a huge fashion influencer and has always been a big fan of M&S, having single-handedly made THAT starry-print constellation dress a sellout last year.

Speaking about how to style the purple coat of dreams, the chic mother-of-two advised: “Do not fear the purple hue. It works SO WELL with navy blue, bright yellow (yes really), orange or red AND emerald green. It’s a completely useful shade if you want to inject some colour into your life. And who doesn’t want that? We couldn’t agree more, E.

She added: “I used to feel like I could only wear a certain type of clothing and I think sometimes you just get stuck in a bit of a rut and wear the same thing over and over again and you create rules for yourself, you think ‘ooh I can’t wear trousers because I’ve got a big bum’ and you create some sort of rule book of your own and sometimes you’ve just got to go ‘right, I’m going to tear up that rule book and I’m going to experiment or I’m going to find my trouser, or I’m going to find my V-neck top or I’m going to find the place that does the perfect T-shirt’. It’s about finding the right things.”

Ali, who gave birth to the couple’s baby daughter Isla in September, looked gorgeous in a black maxi dress that featured an off-the-shoulder neckline. Holly was also her typically stylish self, wearing a white summer dress, while Scarlett looked lovely in a zebra-print number.

The only parenting book I read before my almost-four-year-old son Leo was born was Pamela Druckerman’s 2012 Bringing up Bébé. As an American transplant raising kids in France, Druckerman observed that the French child is not the sun in the familial solar system. I prepared myself to nurture and prune a bien-élevé (well-mannered) toddler—the kind that wears smocked Liberty print dresses, sits and colors, and eats braised endives while her parents hold forth about a new podcast. The book’s thesis and the key to a civilized French household: the parents are in charge, not the children. “C’est moi qui décide,” is the French mother’s last word to her obstreperous child.

I thought of Druckerman’s credo several years ago when I accompanied a friend and her two-and-half-year-old to get ice cream. “He only likes strawberry,” my friend told the teenager behind the counter. “And it cannot contain seeds.” This part, my friend repeated in the sort of non-negotiable tone that a pop star’s tour manager might demand the absence of carnations from a dressing room flower arrangement. Obviously ill-versed in the toddler mood-swing, the teenager informed us there was no more seedless strawberry ice cream to be had. Gamely, if naively, she suggested strawberry frozen yogurt that would be made on the spot with actual strawberries —!!!—and their seeds. Reluctantly, my friend agreed, and then proceeded to meticulously de-seed every spoonful as her son suspiciously appraised her efforts. As I watched, I thought of all of those French children surely quietly, gratefully, tucking into bowlfuls of seed-ed cassis sorbet, and I smugly told myself—with the superiority of the childless—that I would never be one of those mothers who tend slavishly to the demands of their offspring.

Day saying great fish unto first set which very.

Then I had Leo. And I have been his butler (I mean mother) for almost 4 years. To my relief, he is all for a seeded ice cream, which is not to say that he does not have other, let’s call them, eccentricities. It occurred to me that things might be taking a problematic turn when Leo was about two, and I found myself carrying a breakfast tray upstairs so that he might enjoy a morning bed picnic. He sat in my bed in his pajamas, reclining against more pillows than you’d find in a guest bedroom in a Nancy Meyers movie. I had long nurtured a Downton Abbey fantasy, but here I was, cast in the wrong role.

Master Leo just needs a little bell!

But he already has one: at about 18 months, I’d attached a plush musical pull-toy to the edge of his crib. Instead of playing it before going to sleep, Leo took to yanking on the string—prompting a Brahms’ lullaby to sound—upon rising from his nap, ostensibly ringing for service. “I’d like water!” he’d say. As I’d scurry downstairs, he’d call out, refining his order: “Freezing cold!” Now, whenever I hear Brahms, I feel a Pavlovian urge to leap to my feet and beeline to his side, like a flight attendant heading towards a first-class passenger who’s just buzzed for beverage service.

“Master Leo just needs a little bell!” a friend suggested, laughing.

The post The Versatile Flat Shoe Style That’s Probably Missing From Your Wardrobe first appeared on MamiMamita Magazine.

To kick off the new year, Tiffany & Co. joins this fold, announcing plans to share the provenance (the origin) of its newly sourced, individually registered diamonds.

After a chance encounter with a beautiful blonde writer named Beck (Elizabeth Lail), Joe stalks her and eventually wins her affection—but not without killing off people within her inner circle first.

The chilling tale left viewers with many unanswered questions by the end of its first season, but now that You has been renewed, the show’s makers and actors have planted the earliest seeds of what’s to come next for Joe Goldberg. Here’s what we know about You season 2 so far.

Season 2 is filming in Los Angeles

The series heads out west for season 2. Sera Gamble, the series’ showrunner, played it by the book; she told The Hollywood Reporter about the show’s change of location, and what it means for Joe’s character. “Joe Goldberg comes to L.A. and he is a die-hard New Yorker, so I can’t say that he comes to L.A. and he instantly falls in love with the place. At least at first glance, this is not Joe’s kind of town, which is delightful.”

People who watched the show will remember that Paco and his mother Claudia move to Los Angeles, so it’s possible that a Joe/Paco reunion may be in the works.

The book You is based on has a sequel

You was based on Caroline Kepnes’ novel of the same name. Kepnes wrote a sequel, Hidden Bodies, which tells the story of Joe moving to L.A. This would be a good read if you want to get the scoop ahead of the second season. Kepnes has also hinted that there might be a third book in the series, so stay tuned; she told a fan on Goodreads, “You’ll get more Joe eventually.”

Who’s been confirmed for the second season?

Elizabeth Lail sat down with Radio Times after the series premiered to Netflix to say that she will not be returning to the show—Joe did murder her character, after all. “I am sad to not continue that journey with him,” Lail said, referring to Badgley. “The unfortunate thing is, the woman doesn’t win in the end…and I’m so sick and tired of that.”

Despite the series making it clear that Joe murdered Beck after she found out about him stalking her and murdering her friends, fans got their hopes up. Joe’s ex, Candace (played by Ambyr Childers), not only appeared in flashbacks throughout the series, but also showed up alive and confronted Joe in the finale’s cliffhanger after he (supposedly) killed her. This made fans hope that Beck, by the same thought, might make an appearance in future seasons, even though Lail dispelled the rumor.

Ditto. It will be all the motivation I need for season 2. https://t.co/fy2hojauDG

— Penn Badgley (@PennBadgley) January 9, 2019

In theory, we’re not done with Dr. Nicky.

While Beck was forced by Joe to think about “what she did,” Beck wrote a novel that framed Dr. Nicky, her therapist—whom she cheated on Joe with—for her kidnapping in the hopes of obtaining her freedom. After Joe killed her, he published the novel and Dr. Nicky was arrested and sent to prison due to the incriminating manuscript.

“Dr. Nicky is in prison and he is ardently protesting his innocence,” Gamble told THR. “It’s too soon to say definitely whether John Stamos will return in season 2 but we have been talking a lot about the character and we’re excited to keep telling that story.”

The post I’m Happy This Comfortable Trend Is Still Going to Be Cool in 2019 first appeared on MamiMamita Magazine.

 [video src="https://www.instagram.com/p/Brq6lFKHkOH/"]

When Rachel Zegler, a 17-year-old high school student from New Jersey, posted a tweet of her singing a pitch perfect cover of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow” back in December, she went viral. To date, the 30-second clip has over 83,000 retweets and 335,000 likes. Now, just a month later, the teen has been chosen to star opposite Ansel Elgort as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story.

Sunshine and eyebrows

Wondering who Rachel Zegler is before you hit the theaters? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered: Here’s everything you need to know about the budding actress before she makes her film debut in the remake of the 1961 classic. Rachel Zegler is a 17-year-old singer/songwriter and self-professed theater kid from New Jersey. She has a YouTube channel with 85,000 followers that has videos of her singing covers of her favorite songs and clips from her life in the theater. According to her YouTube page, Zegler’s previous roles include Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Cosette in Les Miserables, Mimi Marquez in RENT, and other local productions. Coincidentally enough, she also played Maria in West Side Story, which will now be her first role on-screen.

How did she get cast?

Spielberg began casting for the role back in January 2018 while he was filming the fifth Indiana Jones installment. Dedicated to keeping the movie as “ethnically authentic” as possible, the production put out an open casting call for Latinx actors. Zegler responded to the call with a video of herself singing “Tonight” and “Me Siento Hermosa,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Who will she be starring alongside?

Ansel Elgort will be starring opposite Zegler as Tony, a former member of a white gang called the Jets, while Zegler plays the younger sister of a Puerto Rican gang leader. Ariana DeBose (Hamilton, A Bronx Tale: The Musical, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical) will star as Anita, David Alvarez (Billy Elliot: The Musical) as Bernardo, and Josh Andrés Rivera (Hamilton) as Chino.

“I am so thrilled to be playing the iconic role of Maria alongside this amazing cast,” Zegler told The Hollywood Reporter. “West Side Story was the first musical I encountered with a Latina lead character. As a Colombian-American, I am humbled by the opportunity to play a role that means so much to the Hispanic community.” There is no official release date for West Side Story yet, though filming is anticipated to begin this summer.

Turns out it will be just a few months until Noah Centineo returns to Netflix as its dream boyfriend. The streaming platform announced this afternoon that Centineo will star alongside Riverdale’s Cami Mendes and Austin & Ally’s Laura Marano in The Perfect Date. Centineo once played Dallas, a love interest of Marano’s Austin & Ally character Ally in the Disney Channel show. (Fun fact: Ross Lynch, who plays Harvey on Netflix’s Sabrina reboot, played Austin in the show, the guy Ally ended up with.)

“I did [set early boundaries with Noah,]” Condor explained of their decision to create a no-dating pact while working on the films. (Condor also has a longtime boyfriend, Anthony de la Torre.) “We had just come back from a hot yoga class and went to his apartment, and we ordered pizza, and it’s kind of like, ooh, hot yoga, pizza, what’s happening? It was right before we shot the movie, just getting to know each other. And I felt something. And then so we went like this, and I looked at him and I went, ‘Noah, it’s not going to happen between us.’ Yeah, because I felt, for the show to do well, we had to be best-friend professionals. And so I was like, ‘it’s just not going to happen.’

And he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s not going to happen.’ And I was like, ‘Great!’ So we kind of did what we did in To All the Boys the movie, we kind of made a contract and set boundaries and then I’m so happy that we did that because the movie turned out great and now we’re doing a sequel.”

It’s Netflix all the way. Director Chris Smith interviews many involved in the production, with behind-the-scenes video that’s both jealousy-inducing and insanely silly. (Bella Hadid and swimming pigs on a sandy beach? Sold.)

But the footage also hints that the weekend had a dark side, memorably in a tense scene between model Chanel Iman and festival head Ja Rule. The rapper demands she shed her clothes for a midnight swim with him, on camera. She refuses; he drops the f-bomb; we are reminded that Fyre was promoted by blasting bikini pics across the internet. Fun.

There’s a shocking moment in the Netflix doc where event producer Andy King reveals he was asked to “take one for the team” by performing oral sex on a Bahamas customs official. The act would have been in exchange for four trucks of Evian water, or the $175,000 that customs wanted for the water.

The post Taylor Swift Just Surprised Elisabeth Moss at the Golden Globe Awards first appeared on MamiMamita Magazine.
